Save the date and mark your calendars!...

...You won't want to miss these upcoming events!

Ok, so this post involves a little bit of shameless promotion, but when it comes to supporting the Arizona Costume Institute I have no problem being shameless.  September is going to be an awesome month and a great kick start to the 2012-2013 season.  So mark your calendars and make sure you come out to at least one or two of these events.

First up, on Wednesday, September 12th is the first 2nd Wednesday lunch and lecture.  My friend and co-presenter, Hannah Hayes, and I will be joined by Lemon Art Research Librarian Lindsey Powers, to discuss the library, the fashion collection within the library, the new Vogue Online Archive, and a brief history of Vogue magazine and the September Issue.  After the presentation we will adjourn to the library where Lindsey will have nearly all of the September Issue hardcopies on display and computers available for people to test drive the Vogue Archive.  Don't miss this incredible opportunity to explore, first hand, the history of Vogue.  While it's too late to purchase tickets to the lunch, the lecture is free and open to the public.  To learn more about the library and the Archive, take a look at the post I did about it here.

Next up, on Saturday, September 22 from 6-8:30pm is the opening reception of Modern Spirit: Fashion of the 1920s.  The exhibition will be up through February 10th, 2013, but you don't want to miss the opening.  These receptions are always a blast.  Put on your most fabulous 1920s inspire outfit and come join us for a night of fun and fashion.  The highlight of these openings is always getting to hear curator Dennita Sewell talk about putting the exhibition together, plus you'll be among the first to see the new show.  The opening is free, just RSVP to rsvp@arizonacostumeinstitute.com.

Join us on Saturday, September 29th at 7pm for the annual ACI Nouveau Fundraiser.  Nouveau is the 35 and under division and their annual fundraisers are always a ton of fun.  This years film is no exception.  This special screening of this new documentary features the epic battle between the French haute couture establishment against the innovative American ready-to-wear fashion designers in a runway rumble for industry dominance. There will be a reception with hors d’oeuvres and cash bar.  $30 per person. Seating is limited, so get your ticket now.  You can purchase your ticket here.
